Theerpu is a 1982 Indian Tamil-language film directed by R. Krishnamoorthy.
The film stars Jaishankar, Sujatha, K. Balaji and Sivaji Ganesan, and is a remake of the Malayalam film Ithihasam.
Released on April 21, 1982, the film had a theatrical run of over 100 days.
The story revolves around Rajasekar, a Superintendent of Police whose daughter is raped by a smuggler seeking revenge. He kills the smuggler and is subsequently arrested by his own son, an inspector, for committing murder. His lawyer son tries to prove his innocence while keeping the real cause of fear hidden to avoid tarnishing his daughter's reputation.
The soundtrack was composed by M. S. Viswanathan with lyrics by B. Ranga Rao.
