Synopsis
Thanneer Thanneer is a 1981 Indian Tamil language political drama film directed by K. Balachander and starring Saritha, Shunmugham, A. K. Veerasamy, and Radha Ravi.
The film is based on the 1980 play of the same name by Komal Swaminathan and features music by M. S. Viswanathan. It was released during Diwali in 1981.
The movie explores themes of water scarcity in a village where inhabitants attempt to solve their drought through cooperation, but face opposition from politicians seeking personal gain. The film has been widely acclaimed as a classic and received significant recognition, including two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards South.
