Thamarai Nenjam (Lotus Heart) is a 1968 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by K. Balachander.
The film stars Gemini Ganesan and B. Saroja Devi in the lead roles, with Vanisri, Major Sundarrajan, and Nagesh also featured prominently in supporting parts.
The plot revolves around two friends, Kamala and Radha, who both fall in love with Murali. However, upon discovering that Kamala has helped facilitate their relationship, Radha feels immense guilt and subsequently pushes Murali towards Kamala, creating a destructive dynamic that ruins all three lives.
Thamarai Nenjam was released on 31 May 1968 and won two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards: Best Film (Third Prize) and Best Dialogue Writer (Balachander).
