Nallasivam wishes to marry his daughter, Valli, to Murugan's son, while simultaneously seeking a bride for his own daughter, Valli. When Kamalam agrees to be the bride for Valli after seeing Murugan, she mistakenly believes her marriage is to Murugan.
Kamalam misbehaves with Murugan on their first meeting before the actual wedding ceremony, which is witnessed by Namchivayam, a tax collector. Murugan then steps in to foil Namchivayam's plans and ultimately ensures that the truth prevails regarding his daughter's marriage.
