Surya Puthri is a 1941 Indian Hindu mythological film directed by Ellis R. Dungan and associate direction from J. Moylan.
The story revolves around Sage Narada encountering the Sun God, Surya, portrayed by Kothamangalam Subbu. Thapathi, played by K. R. Chellam, is revealed as his daughter who falls in love with King Samvaran (Kothamangalam Seenu) despite never having met him.
Complicating matters is the king of Yakshas, K. S. Gopalakrishnan as Thailakethu, who also loves Thapathi and attempts to blackmail her into relinquishing her affections for the King.
In an effort to save her husband from this predicament, Sulochanan (T. R. Rajakumari), King Samvaran's first wife, performs several sacrifices and prays to the Sun God for intervention.
The film stars Kothamangalam Subbu, Kothamangalam Seenu, K. R. Chellam, T. R. Rajakumari, M. S. Sundari Bai, and S. R. Janaki.
