Sumaithaangi is a 1962 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed and written by C. V. Sridhar.
The film stars Gemini Ganesan, Radha, and R. Muthuraman in the lead roles and was produced by Kovai Chezhiyan under the banner of Sumathi Pictures.
The story is based on a novel serialized in Kumudam by Ra. Ki. Rangarajan and revolves around a middle-class family led by Muthuraman, who supports his retired father Sarangapani, younger brother Babu (Gemini Ganesan), and younger sister L. Vijayalakshmi.
Babu is challenged by friends to woo Radha, the daughter of their former schoolteacher Rathnavel, and succeeds in this romantic pursuit. However, he is forced into a job that requires significant sacrifices from him due to the family's financial troubles.
The film was released on 7 December 1962 and won the Film Fans Association Award for Best Actor for Gemini Ganesan's performance.
