Sanyasi-Samsari is a 1942 Indian Tamil-language film directed by M. Krishnaratnam.
The film consists of two separate stories: Sanyasi and Samsari, packaged together and released simultaneously.
In Sanyasi, a crook sets his sights on Seetha, Rajaram's wife, after Rajaram seeks financial assistance from him to educate their son. The plot involves the attempted abduction of Seetha by the villainous character, which is fortunately intercepted and prevented by another woman.
Samsari presents a contrasting story centered around a native doctor who strongly advocates for Indian medicine as being superior. He wishes his elder daughter, Gunavathi, to marry someone knowledgeable in this traditional system. Upon finding a suitable candidate, Kulapathi, who is also trained in Western medicine, the native doctor establishes a condition: whoever can discover and demonstrate the effectiveness of an older form of Indian medicine known as Muppu shall be eligible to marry his brother-in-law.
