Samurai is a 2002 Indian Tamil-language vigilante action thriller film directed by Balaji Sakthivel in his directoral debut.
The film stars Vikram in the title role, alongside Anita Hassanandani, Jaya Seal, and Nassar.
Thiagu, played by Vikram, is a school teacher by day and a 'Samurai' by night, who abducts corrupt politicians and bureaucrats with the help of his gang. His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets a kind-hearted but mischievous schoolgirl named Deiva.
As Thiagu navigates his dual life, he must confront the consequences of his actions and face off against the honest cop Nassar who is determined to bring him to justice. The film explores themes of justice, morality, and the complexities of the human condition.
The film was shot over a period of 18 months, with filming starting in March 2001 but delayed due to production issues. It was finally released in July 2002.
