Rudhra is an Indian Tamil-language action thriller film released in 1991.
The story revolves around Mayaandi, a notorious convict who orchestrates his escape with prison staff assistance to murder Rudhra's entire family. While everyone dies except the young girl Rudhra, she witnesses the escape and identifies one of the perpetrators as Mayaandi.
Rudhra later discovers evidence implicating her father, Inspector Gopal, in establishing Mayaandi's alibi after the crime. When Mayaandi returns to prison seemingly innocent, an officer assigned to investigate begins torturing Rudhra for information about her family's murder and Mayaandi's involvement.
This leads Rudhra to vow revenge against Mayaandi. The film stars K. Bhagyaraj, Gautami, Lakshmi, and Mansoor Ali Khan in the lead roles. It was directed by Sasi Mohan and released among other Diwali films that year. The plot inspiration is noted as being drawn from elements present in the French film Nikita (1980) and the American film Quick Change (1990).
