Roja is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language romantic thriller film directed by Mani Ratnam.
The story revolves around Roja, a young woman from Southern India who hopes to marry the man visiting her sister. However, when he chooses her over her sister, they get married and move to the city. Rishi, working for the Indian Government, takes Roja on a secret mission to Kashmir where he is abducted by jihadist militants demanding the release of a terrorist prisoner.
The film features Arvind Swamy and Madhoo in lead roles, with cinematography by Santhosh Sivan and music composed by A. R. Rahman in his debut. Produced by K. Balachander under Kavithalayaa Productions, Roja received positive reviews upon release, praised for its patriotic theme and acclaimed music score.
