Despite his poverty, the protagonist Rathnakumar successfully woos and wins the hand of Bhanumati. A notable scene involves a skeleton obeying his command by hurling a giant rock, causing diamonds, rubies, and emeralds to emerge from it.
Influenced by dubious characters, Rathnakumar succumbs to vices, mistreats his wife, and eventually abandons her. He then becomes infatuated with a beautiful princess, impressing her under false pretences.
The plot takes a turn when his secret past is revealed, leading to his downfall and imprisonment. This revelation awakens his conscience, filling him with remorse for the suffering he caused Bhanumati due to his shifting loyalties, greed, lust, and deceit.
The soundtrack features music composed by G. Ramanathan and C. R. Subbara.
