Rani Lalithangi is a 1957 Tamil historical drama film directed by T.R. Raghunath.
The film stars Sivaji Ganesan as Prince Devanandan and P.Bhanumathi as Queen Lalithangi, who rules over her kingdom with effectiveness.
Prince Devanandan is initially disillusioned with women after a chieftain named Veerappa arranges for his daughter to ensnare him during a dance. Queen Lalithangi attempts to win the prince's affection by disguising herself as a yogini and giving him an anonymous love letter, but instead angers him further.
Undeterred, she later reveals her identity again and ultimately uses her own dancing skills at an art festival within the palace to change his mind. The film is a remake of the 1935 movie Lalithangi.
The music was composed by G. Ramanathan with lyrics written by Thanjai N. Ramaiah Dass. The lead role was initially offered to M. G. Ramachandran, but he declined following creative differences; Sivaji Ganesan was later cast.
Rani Lalithangi was released on 21 September 1957 and did not do well commercially.
