Punniya Boomi is a 1978 Indian Tamil-language film directed by K. Vijayan and written by Sakthi T. K. Krishnasamy.
The film stars Sivaji Ganesan and Vanisri, with Sangeeta, Bhavani, M. N. Nambiar, and V. K. Ramasamy in supporting roles.
The movie is a remake of the 1957 Hindi film Mother India, previously remade in Telugu as Bangaru Thalli in 1971.
It tells the story of Manickam and Lakshmi, who are married with two children. The family's financial struggles intensify when they borrow money for their marriage, which is then multiplied by the time they have more children. A lender aims to take over their lands, but Lakshmi's hard work stands in his way.
The film was released on 12 May 1978.
