Pudhiya Vaarpugal (New Mouldings) is a 1979 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by Bharathiraja in his directorial debut.
The lead actors are K. Bhagyaraj and Rati Agnihotri, with supporting roles played by G. Srinivasan, Goundamani, K.K. Soundar, and Usharani.
Bharathiraja co-wrote the screenplay, adapted it from R. Selvaraj's story, and produced the film for the first time. Bhagyaraj also penned the dialogues for this production.
Cinematography was handled by P. S. Nivas, while R. Bhaskaran served as the film editor.
The film revolves around a school teacher who falls in love with a woman in his village, their relationship is threatened by the lecherous village chief.
Pudhiya Vaarpugal was released on 14 April 1979 and became a successful Tamil-language film. It won two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards: Second Best Film (also known as the Silver Award) and Best Dialogue Writer.
