Paradesi, also known as Poongothai, is a 1953 Indian bilingual film directed by L. V. Prasad and produced by P. Adinarayana Rao under Anjali Pictures.
The film stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Anjali Devi, and Sivaji Ganesan in its cast, with music composed by P. Adinarayana Rao.
The story revolves around Lakshmi, a benevolent florist girl living at the hill station Sitagiri with her disabled father Rangaiah. Chandram, the son of an industrialist who died bankrupt, inherits his friend Raghu's wife Susheela and son Anand after Raghu's demise.
Following medical advice to recover from illness caused by stress over managing the inheritance, Chandram visits Sitagiri and becomes drawn to Lakshmi's purity. The film is a remake of the 1950 Hindi movie "Raj Rani".
