Poomalai is a 1965 Indian Tamil-language film directed by P. Neelakantan and written by M. Karunanidhi. The story revolves around the titular character, Poomalai, a happy-go-lucky girl living with her father and elder brother.
Her life undergoes a significant negative change following an incident of rape. The film stars S. S. Rajendran, C. R. Vijayakumari, and Anjali Devi, with supporting roles by S. A. Ashokan, Nagesh, and Manorama.
Poomalai was produced by Murasoli Maran under Meghala Pictures, with art direction handled by B. Nagarajan, cinematography by Amirtham, and editing by R. Devarajan. The film was released on 23 October 1965.
