Ponnagaram is a 1980 Indian Tamil-language film written and directed by K. S. Madhangan in his debut.
The film stars Sarath Babu and Shoba, and its plot revolves around a tragic love story between the son of a farmer and a village girl, where societal pressure forces them apart.
The father sacrifices his own life to save her from an impending death, ultimately leading to their demise.
The title is derived from a short story of the same name by Pulamaipithan. The music for Ponnagaram was composed by Shankar–Ganesh, marking their first work on an album as well as Kamakodiyan's debut in lyrics.
The film was released on 4 July 1980, two months after Shoba's death. Kalki's play reviewer P. S. M. criticized Madhangan for handling both writing and directing simultaneously, suggesting he gave himself too much work and was attempting to capitalize on Shoba's recent death.
