Pillai Nila is a 1985 Indian Tamil-language psychological horror film directed by Manobala and produced by P. Kalaimani.
The story revolves around Dolly, the young sister of a wealthy widower named David, who falls in love with Mohan, her university classmate. Before she can confess her feelings, Dolly departs unexpectedly for abroad due to an office matter. Meanwhile, Mohan marries his cousin Bhuvana, arranged by his mother.
Upon Dolly's return, she expresses her love to Mohan, but he rejects her because of his wife's pregnancy. Consumed by obsession, Dolly commits suicide at a hospital during a critical time. Coincidentally, this happens as Bhuvana gives birth to their daughter Shalini.
Shalini inherits and embodies Dolly's vengeful spirit, continuing her mother's path of retribution against Mohan and those around him. The film follows the subsequent events as Mohan tries to understand what is happening to his family.
The movie stars Mohan, Radhika, Jaishankar, Nalini, and Baby Shalini, and was released on 14 April 1985, emerging a commercial success.
