Parisu (1963) is an Indian Tamil-language film directed by D. Yoganand and released on Diwali day.
The story revolves around Venu, an elite policeman who sacrifices his love life for the sake of his investigation and to keep a promise made to his dying friend Raghu regarding Ponni, an innocent provincial woman he was previously involved with.
Viswam plays a crucial role in the film, accepting Venu's marriage proposal on terms that include marrying Mala, Viswam's sister, and forcing Venu to court Shanti, Viswam's other sister, under the blackmail of this condition. This situation conveniently suits Rangadurai, who has long desired Ponni.
The film stars M. G. Ramachandran, Savitri, and M. R. Radha, and was released on 15 November 1963, Diwali day.
