Palum Pazhamum is a 1961 Indian Tamil-language film directed by A. Bhimsingh and starring Sivaji Ganesan and B. Saroja Devi.
The story revolves around Dr. Ravi, who develops a new drug for cancer with the help of his nurse Shanthi. After learning about her father's death, Ravi proposes to Shanthi, but she flees on a train when he neglects his medical duties in favor of caring for her.
A tragic accident occurs during the train journey, leading to Shanthi's presumed death. Devastated, Ravi continues his research despite being forced into an unhappy marriage with Nalini due to family pressure.
However, it is later revealed that Shanthi has survived and returns from Switzerland to find her husband has lost his eyesight. She nurses him back to health and they eventually reunite, working together to benefit mankind.
The film was released on 9 September 1961 and was remade in Kannada as Beratha Jeeva, and in Hindi as Saathi, with the latter also being remade in Turkish as Yarım Kalan Saadet (1970).
