Paalam

Paalam is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language vigilante film directed by Karvannan.

The movie stars Murali and newcomer Vasudevan Baskaran, alongside M. N. Nambiar and Kitty in lead roles. Senthil, Anuja, Suryakanth, Balambika, Kannan, Ramesh, and Gowri appear in supporting roles.

In the film, Jeeva is a college student whose family resides in their native village alongside his brother Muthu, sister-in-law Vadivukkarasi, and blind sister Selvi. The villagers become frustrated with being paid little for their manual labor and go on strike against the wealthy landlord Arivumathi.

Arivumathi reluctantly accepts their demands but then attempts to kill Muthu by sending henchmen. Simultaneously, he rapes Vadivukkarasi and kidnaps Selvi, setting fires to the thatched houses of the poor villagers as part of his retaliation. Using his power, Arivumathi manages to have both Muthu and Vadivukkarasi arrested.

The film was released on 10 March 1990.
