Oru Indhiya Kanavu is a 1983 Indian Tamil-language film written and directed by Komal Swaminathan. The film stars Rajeev, Suhasini, Lalitha, and Poornam Viswanathan in a supporting role.
The movie is based on Komal Swaminathan's play of the same name and follows the story of Anamika, a postgraduate student who befriends a tribal girl named Gangamma while visiting the Javadi Hills. After returning home, Anamika sets out to uplift the lives of the people, but discovers that Gangamma has taken her own life after being raped.
Released on September 30, 1983, Oru Indhiya Kanavu received widespread critical acclaim and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil at the 31st National Film Awards in 1984.
