Nizhal Nijamagiradhu is a 1978 Indian Tamil-language film directed by K. Balachander and produced as a remake of the Malayalam film Adimakal.
The movie stars Kamal Haasan, Sarath Babu, Sumithra, and Hanumanthu in its lead roles, with Shoba making her debut in Tamil cinema through this film.
The film revolves around siblings Venkatachalam and Indumathi, where Indumathi harbours a strong dislike for men but develops an attraction to Sanjeevi, a friend of Venkatachalam who frequently visits. Despite their mutual feelings, Indumathi refuses to show vulnerability due to her stubborn attitude.
Complicating matters is Thilagam (played by Shoba), a young village girl hired as a servant at Venkatachalam's house, whose innocence leads to an intimate relationship with him.
The film was released on 24 March 1978 and is a remake of the Malayalam film Adimakal. It explores themes of love, attraction, and vulnerability amidst sibling relationships and societal expectations.
