Neerkumizhi is a 1965 Indian Tamil-language film directed by K. Balachander in his directorial debut.
The movie portrays the lives of patients and staff within a hospital setting, featuring multiple interconnected storylines.
A key storyline involves Sethu, an orphan patient who plays pranks on others at the hospital, while another centers on Indra, a young doctor, whose romantic relationship with Arun, another patient, causes conflict for her father. A third element introduces Arun's greedy brother who attempts to arrange his sibling's death.
Upon learning he has a terminal illness, Sethu decides to use the remaining time he has left to help bring together Indra and Arun, thereby uniting these two characters despite their respective complications.
The film was later remade in Telugu as Chiranjeevi (1969) and in Malayalam as Aaradimanninte Janmi (1972).
