The title is derived from a song present in the director's earlier work, Keladi Kannmanii (1990).
The film tells the story of Nandha, a young graduate who develops feelings for Nivedha, an illegitimate daughter of a respected judge. When Nandha's traditional mother, Vedavalli, learns about their relationship, she attempts to introduce Nivedha to the judge.
Upon discovering Nivedha at his home and hearing that he is courting her against his first wife's wishes, the judge physically assaults Vedavalli. The second unmarried wife of the judge later confronts Nandha about maintaining a moral lifestyle.
