Nallathambi is a 1949 Indian Tamil-language film starring and produced by N.S. Krishnan.
The film's script was written by C.N. Annadurai, marking his debut in Tamil films. The movie is an adaptation of the 1936 American film Mr. Deeds Goes to Town.
The story follows a simple rural man who inherits an estate from his deceased zamindar relative. He navigates complex emotions, including unrequited love for Pushpa (Bhanumathi), the zamindar's daughter, and affections for another girl (T.A. Madhuram). His peaceful ownership is threatened by Bhoopathy (Sahasranamam), the estate manager who covets the wealth and attempts to deceive him.
Bhoopathy manipulates Pushpa into accusing Nallathambi of being mentally insane in order to cheat him out of his inheritance. In the end, Nallathambi defeats Bhoopathy's machinations.
