Synopsis
Murai Mappillai is a 1995 Indian Tamil-language film directed and co-written by Sundar C.
The film stars newcomers Arun Vijay (known at the time as Arunkumar) and Kirthika, with Rajashree, Manivannan, K. Prabakaran, Goundamani, and Senthil playing supporting roles.
Released on 15 December 1995, the movie follows the story of Kai Ezhuthu Gounder and Kai Naattu Gounder, two village bigwigs who want their children Raja and Indhu to get married. However, the two hate each other and quarrel continually until Sorna, a dancer, intervenes and causes them to fall in love.
Sorna's past is revealed as she seeks revenge against Kai Ezhuthu Gounder and Kai Naattu Gounder for attempting to rape her sister, who later took her own life. The film explores the conflict between Raja and Indhu, as well as their fathers' wishes for them to get married.
