Synopsis
Mullum Malarum is a 1978 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Mahendran in his directorial debut and produced by Venu Chettiar and V. Mohan.
The film stars Rajinikanth, Sarath Babu, Jayalaxmi, and Shoba in its lead roles.
Based partly on Uma Chandran's novel serialized in Kalki magazine, the story centers on Kali (Rajinikanth), a winch operator who cares for his orphaned sister Valli (Shoba). He faces conflict with their boss Kumaran (Sarath Babu).
Mullum Malarum marks Mahendran's directorial debut and is partly based on Uma Chandran's novel of the same name, which was serialised in the Tamil magazine Kalki in 1966.
