Mogam Muppadhu Varusham is a 1976 Tamil-language film directed by S. P. Muthuraman and written by Mahendran. The story revolves around two contrasting marriages: Ramesh, a city-bred man, is paired with Kasthuri, a village girl; while Ravishankar, a village boy, is married to Menaka, a modern woman who dislikes his lack of interest in sex.
A young girl named Bhama seeks motherhood with Ramesh but remains attracted to him even if he doesn't marry her. The film concludes tragically with Bhama committing suicide, while the other characters overcome their personal issues and find happiness.
The film stars Kamal Haasan, Vijayakumar, Sumithra, Fatafat Jayalaxmi, and Sripriya. It is based on a novel of the same name, written by Maniyan and serialized in Ananda Vikatan magazine. The film was released on 27 November 1976 and became a commercial success.
