
Mettukudi is a 1996 Indian Tamil-language comedy film directed by Sundar C and starring Karthik, Gemini Ganesan, Goundamani, Nagma, and Manivannan.
The story begins in the 9th century with King Raja Raja Chola presenting his valuable sword to his commander-in-chief. The sword is later preserved by his family's descendants. In the present day, an archaeologist plans to steal the sword due to its monetary value, and a landlord named Shanmugam is charged with its care.
The film follows the story of Raja, who enters into the palace as the son of Kumarasamy, Shanmugam's son-in-law. Initially, everything seems smooth, but Raja falls in love with Indhu, Gemini Ganesan's granddaughter. The situation becomes complicated when Indhu discovers the truth about Raja's identity and challenges him to marry her.
The film culminates in a climax where Raja manages to protect the sword from the villain and earns the acceptance of his family after learning the truth.
