Mella Pesungal (Speak Quietly) is a 1983 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Bharathi–Vasu and starring S. N. Vasanth in his debut role as Prabhu, alongside Bhanupriya making her first appearance as Uma.
The story revolves around Prabhu's love for Uma, a school teacher played by Bhanupriya, but their relationship faces complications due to an unfortunate incident that occurred at Prabhu's house.
Originally planned with Sivakumar and Saritha in the lead roles, the film features music composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The song "Sevvanthi Pookalil" was filmed in a house set costing ₹1 lakh (approximately ₹17 lakh or US$20,000 as of 2023).
The film marked the debut of Vasanth and Bhanupriya in the film industry and was released on 24 June 1983.
