Manonmani is a 1942 Indian Tamil-language film directed by T.R. Sundaram and based on the 1892 play Manonmaneeyam by Sundaram Pillai.
The movie features an extensive cast including P.U. Chinnappa, T.R. Rajakumari, Serukalathur Sama, T.S. Balaiah, T.R. Mahalingam, K.K. Perumal, A. Sakunthala, N.S. Krishnan, and many others.
The plot revolves around King Seevaka of the Pandya Kingdom, who has moved his capital to Tirunelveli following the counsel of a minister named Kutilan (played by Balasubramaniam), whose ambition is to rule himself. A Rajaguru advises the king that the current capital is weak and proposes performing a yagna to strengthen it.
The film ran more than 25 weeks and stars a large ensemble cast, including notable actors of the time.
