The story follows Manikkam (Rajkiran), a protector of many local villages who resides at a village in Vadipatti. He operates according to the "arul vakku" from the local Neethi Amman kovil.
Manikkam battles against Karuvayan (Mansoor Ali Khan), a ruthless bandit terrorizing local villagers from a nearby town called Vakkanoor.
The film was released on 7 September 1996 and is based on the Tamil religious belief of yesteryear heroes becoming worshipped as sub-deities and believed to become "protectors" of villages.
