Mani Malai is an Indian Tamil-language anthology film released in 1941. The film consists of four distinct short comedy segments: Ashaadabuthi, Minor-in Kaathal, Abbuthi Adigal, and Naveena Markandeyar.
The first segment, Ashaadabuthi, was directed by Fram Sethna and addresses the issue of untouchability in a light manner. The second segment, Minor-in Kaathal, features a young man refusing to marry the woman chosen by his mother for him. Abbuthi Adigal presents a humorous take on godly devotion. Naveena Markandeyar tells a parodic story about Markandeya and was directed by A.T. Krishnaswamy.
Production took place at Vel Pictures Studio, Guindy, with each segment having its own director and cast. The film was successful upon release.
