Manasukkul Mathappu is a 1988 Tamil-language film directed by Robert-Rajasekar and starring Prabhu, Saranya, and Lissy. The movie serves as a remake of the 1986 Malayalam film Thalavattam, which was inspired by the 1975 English-language film adaptation of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".
The plot revolves around Shekar, who becomes mentally ill following the death of his girlfriend Anitha in an electric short circuit accident during a rock concert. He is placed under the care of Dr. Geetha (Saranya), Nagaraj's daughter and head of the institution where he resides, alongside his old friend Raja.
Through their help, Shekar begins to recover his memories and mental state. During this recovery process, he develops feelings for Geetha. The film was released on 24 June 1988 and Prabhu won the Cinema Express Award for Best Actor – Tamil.
