Makkalai Petra Magarasi (1957) is an Indian Tamil-language film directed by K. Somu and written by A. P. Nagarajan. The story revolves around a village in Coimbatore district, where a good-hearted farmer named Sengodan lives with his mother Angamma.
Sengodan sends his sister Thangam to college in town, while dealing with conflict from his uncle, an avaricious landowner who has past issues with their families. The narrative involves love and family ties as Thangam falls in love with Kannan, the son of the villainous landowner.
The film stars Sivaji Ganesan as Sengodan and P. Bhanumathi as Angamma. It was later remade into the Kannada-language "Anna Thangi" in 1958, directed by K. R. Seetharama Sastry and produced by T. S. Karibasaiah.
