Maheswari is a 1955 Indian Tamil-language film produced by Modern Theatres and directed by T. R. Raghunath.
The film stars Gemini Ganesan as Manickam, an absconder wanted by the East India Company's army, and Savithri in the titular role of Maheswari.
Manickam takes refuge with Maheswari, leading to a romance between them. However, their love is threatened when Maheswari's mother, Kanthimathi, agrees to pay a large dowry demanded by Manickam's father, Dharmalingam, but he later learns that villagers have mocked Kanthimathi for her perceived loose morals and sends Maheswari home.
Unable to act without his father's consent, Manickam is helpless when Kanthimathi tragically takes her own life. Following this loss, Maheswari seeks a means to support herself and finds work with Mayathevan, the leader of a gang of robbers.
The film was released on 13 November 1955.
