Mahadevi is a 1957 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Sundar Rao Nadkarni and written by Kannadasan.
The film stars M. G. Ramachandran and Savithri, and is based on the novel Punya Prabhav by R. G. Katkari.
Princess Mahadevi, whose father, the king, has been defeated in battle, is invited to stay with the rival king as his honored guest.
The victorious king has an adopted daughter Mangamma and a son, and his senior commander Karunakaran develops feelings for Mahadevi, which she rejects.
Karunakaran then attempts to kidnap Mahadevi multiple times, but due to mistaken identities or events, he captures Mangamma instead. He marries her to cover up his mistake.
Despite this complication, Mahadevi eventually finds happiness by marrying Vallavan as planned.
The film was released on November 22, 1957.
