Magudi is a 1984 sentimental drama film featuring early roles of Nalini and Mohan.
The story revolves around Mohan, a poor flute player in a drama troupe led by Vadivukarasi. Despite his questionable character, Vadivu acts as his protective older sister figure. Local landlord's daughter Nalini is a good singer who meets Mohan and develops feelings for him, leading her to defy her father and elope with him.
After marriage, they face poverty. When Nalini needs money for an upcoming delivery, the local money lender forces Mohan to pawn his flute to repay the loan until it is returned. Following their son's birth, a crisis involving a snake leads Nalini to ask Mohan to play the flute, but he refuses without explanation.
This refusal creates misunderstandings between them, resulting in separation. Both characters then face significant hardships alone before fate reunites them for an opportunity to sing together for a movie, allowing them to resolve their issues and reconcile.
