Madhanamala is a 1947 Tamil-language film directed by K. Vembu and produced by S. Soundararajan through Tamil Nadu Talkies.
The plot centers on Vikraman, who encounters Madhanamala, a celebrated court dancer, at a royal celebration where gifts are offered. This leads to the king becoming angry and banishing Vikraman. Despite this separation, Vikraman finds Madhanamala and they develop feelings for each other.
He attempts to woo her disguised as a sadhu, but his identity is discovered. The film concludes with their eventual reunion after overcoming difficulties.
The film stars Sriram as Vikraman, T. R. Rajani as Madhanamala, P. B. Rangachari as the fake sadhu, Vidwan Srinivasan as the poet, and M. V. Mani as the king.
