Maaveeran is a 1986 Indian Tamil-language action film directed by Rajasekhar. The film stars Rajinikanth, Ambika and Jaishankar.
The movie revolves around a rude princess who falls in love with a simpleton after initially being hostile towards him.
Maaveeran was the first Tamil film to be shot in 70 mm film format, featuring six-track stereophonic sound. The film was released on November 1, 1986, and became a critical and commercial failure.
The movie is a remake of the 1985 Hindi film Mard, with some footage used from the original film. Sivaji Ganesan was initially attached to star in Maaveeran but opted out due to other commitments.
