Kumki is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language musical adventure romantic drama film written and directed by Prabhu Solomon.
The story revolves around Bomman (Vikram Prabhu), a mahout who performs with his pet elephant Manickam in temples and film shootings, living with his uncle Thambi Ramaiah. When they are hired to protect a remote village from a wild herd of elephants, Bomman must confront the reality that Manickam is not a trained Kumki elephant.
Bomman falls in love with the village chieftain's daughter Alli (Lakshmi Menon) and must find a way to stop the attack by the wild elephants while winning her heart. The villagers treat him as their savior, unaware of the danger posed by the wild elephants.
The film features Vikram Prabhu in his acting debut, alongside Lakshmi Menon, Thambi Ramaiah, and Ashvin Raja. It was presented by N. Lingusamy and produced by N. Subash Chandra Bose under the banner Thirrupathi Brothers, distributed by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under the banner Studio Green.
Filming took place in various places of Karnataka and Kerala, with music composed by D. Imman, cinematography handled by M. Sukumar, and editing by L. V. K. Dass. The film was released on 14 December 2012.
