Kumbakarai Thangaiah is a 1991 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Gangai Amaran and produced by Ramumachan.
The movie stars Prabhu, Kanaka, Pandiyan, and M. N. Nambiar in its lead roles.
The story revolves around Mangamma, an ethical girl who supports her family, as she falls in love with Thangaiya, who faces trouble following a dispute in their village.
The soundtrack features music composed by Ilaiyaraaja, with lyrics primarily penned by Gangai Amaran for most songs. Notably, he also wrote the lyrics for "Ennai Oruvan," and another song, "Poothu Pothu," is set in the Suddhadhanyasi raga.
