Kaviya Thalaivi is a 1970 Indian Tamil-language film directed by K. Balachander and produced by Sowcar Janaki.
The film stars Gemini Ganesan, Ravichandran, M. R. R. Vasu, and Sowcar Janaki alongside each other.
It is a remake of the 1963 Bengali film Uttar Falguni. The movie follows the story of Devi, who falls in love with Suresh but is forced into marriage with Paranthaman, an alcoholic gambler. After escaping him, she works as a dancer in Hyderabad where she gives birth to her daughter, Krishna.
When Vasu attempts to kidnap Krishna, Devi has Suresh adopt the child. Later, Vasu's blackmail threatens Krishna's future and marriage, prompting Devi to kill him.
The film was released on 29 October 1970, Diwali day, and became a success. For his performance, Ganesan won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor.
