Kathirundha Kangal is a 1962 Indian Tamil-language film directed by T. Prakash Rao.
The movie stars Savitri in dual roles and Gemini Ganesan, and was released on August 25, 1962.
The plot revolves around twin sisters Shenbagam and Lalitha, who get separated at birth due to poverty. One is raised by a wealthy man, Panchanatha Mudaliar, while the other grows up with her mother, Kamakshi.
Shenbagam falls in love with Krishna, a doctor who treats her ailing mother, but he remains unaware of their connection. On her deathbed, Kamakshi reveals to Shenbagam the existence of her twin sister Lalitha, prompting Shenbagam to search for her.
The film is a remake of the 1960 Bengali film Smrithi Tukku Thak, adapted from the Bengali play of the same name by Malabika Roy.
