Kasi

Kasi is a 2001 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Vinayan and produced by Aroma Mani for Sunitha Productions.

The film stars Vikram as Kasi, a blind poet and talented singer who supports his family with his songs, alongside Kaveri and Kavya Madhavan in supporting roles.

Ilaiyaraaja composed the film score and soundtrack. The movie follows Kasi's life in a village in Tanjore district, where he faces various challenges due to his disability.

The story revolves around Kasi's struggles with his family members, including an abusive father and a drunkard brother, as well as the arrival of a local landlord who promises to help the locals.

Vikram won the Filmfare Best Actor Award and Cinema Express Award for Best Actor – Tamil for his portrayal in the film.
