Karnan is a 1964 Indian Tamil-language Hindu mythological film produced and directed by B. R. Panthulu.
The film stars Sivaji Ganesan in the lead role, alongside an ensemble cast featuring N. T. Rama Rao, Savitri, Devika, M. V. Rajamma, and S. A. Ashokan.
The story is based on the character of Karna from the Hindu epic Mahabharata.
War sequences were filmed in Kurukshetra using soldiers from the Indian Army.
The original soundtrack features music composed by Viswanathan–Ramamoorthy with lyrics by Kannadasan, while A. S. Nagarajan handled the screenplay and Sakthi T. K. Krishnasamy wrote the dialogues.
Karnan was released on 14 January 1964, during the Pongal festival, and achieved significant commercial success, running for over 100 days in theatres.
