Synopsis
Karakattakaran is a 1989 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy dance film written and directed by Gangai Amaran.
The film stars Ramarajan and debutant Kanaka, with supporting roles played by Santhana Bharathi, Chandrasekhar, Goundamani, Senthil, Shanmugasundaram, Raja Bahadur, Gandhimathi, and Kovai Sarala.
The story revolves around two karakattam dancers who develop feelings for each other but are unable to confess their love due to circumstances. The film follows how they navigate these challenges together.
Karakattakaran was released on June 16, 1989, and achieved significant commercial success by running for over a year in theatres. It won two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and is also noted as being Goundamani and Senthil's 100th film together.
