Kalyani is a 1952 Indian Tamil-language psychological drama film produced by T. R. Sundaram for Modern Theatres.
The film was directed initially by Acharya (T. G. Raghavachari), but production was taken over by cinematographer M. Masthan after he contracted tuberculosis, who completed the film to the satisfaction of the producers.
The plot revolves around Moorthi, a man suffering from mental problems, and his wife Kalyani. It depicts their relationship and the challenges faced by Kalyani as she helps her husband overcome his illness.
The key cast members include M. N. Nambiar in the lead role, alongside B. S. Saroja, D. Balasubramaniam, M. G. Chakrapani, and T. P. Muthulakshmi.
The film was inspired by 1948 American film The Snake Pit and later remade in Telugu as Atthainti Kaapuram in 1952.
