Kaakum Karangal (1965) is a Tamil drama film directed by A.C. Tirulokchandar and produced by Murugan Brothers through AVM Productions.
The story revolves around Shankar, whose father dies due to lack of medical care. His mother struggles to educate him to become a surgeon. Later, while treating Mahalakshmi, he falls in love with her; however, Subbaiah, her wealthy father, initially opposes their union and eventually forces them apart by disowning her.
The film stars S.S. Rajendran and C.R. Vijayakumari, with Nagesh, L.Vijayalakshmi, S.V. Subbaiah, Sivakumar (in his acting debut), and Revathi playing supporting roles.
Released on 19 June 1965, the film was inspired by British writer W. Somerset Maugham's 1925 novel The Painted Veil.
